Learning about the estuary can be fun!

Estuaries are special places. They form when fresh water from creeks and streams mix with salty ocean water. They are home to many, many plants, animals and fish.

The fresh water in Morro Bay comes from creeks in the watershed. A watershed is an area of land that drains rainfall into creeks, which then carry that water into the estuary or the ocean.
