Immerse yourself in the life of the estuary at the Estuary Nature Center
The Morro Bay Estuary is a unique and special place. This 2,300 acre expanse of sheltered waters, tidal marshes, mudflats and seagrass beds is still rich with natural resources at a time when many coastal wetlands have been lost or severely damaged.
Through hands-on exhibits you can learn about this home for endangered species, nursery ground for fish, and critical stop for migratory birds.
Track the rain's journey at the watershed exhibit, see live eelgrass and steelhead trout, experience the variety of birds that make this their home or visit on their migratory journey, and watch seabirds, sea lions, harbor seals and sea otters in the estuary outside the window.
The Estuary Nature Center is located upstairs on the Embarcadero at Marina Street in Morro Bay in the Marina Square building at 601 Embarcadero, Suite 11. The center is open every day from 10am to 6pm (10 am to 5 pm in January and February)
