About Our Conservation Plan
The work of the MBNEP is guided by the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP) for Morro Bay. The CCMP was created by the local community and the MBNEP over several years of meetings, public comments, and technical studies. The CCMP describes the estuary’s resources and the major threats facing the bay:
- Accelerated sedimentation in the bay
- Nutrient overloading
- Bacterial pollution
- Loss of habitat
- Reduced freshwater flow
- Loss of steelhead
- Toxic and heavy metal pollution
The document also lists 62 Action Plans that are specific projects and programs aimed at protecting and restoring the estuary and watershed. You can download the CCMP by chapter along with a list of Action Plans from our Publications page.
