$36,000 in Grant Funding Awarded

The Los Osos Community Services District received an award of $3,495 to create a life-sized version of Sammy’s Family Wet and Wild Journey, a game which provides an interactive learning environment on watershed protection and the habitat of the endangered steelhead trout.

Local children’s book author, Evelyn Dabritz, was awarded $3,000 towards production of a children’s nature story titled The Kelp Condo Crisis, which explores the complex ecosystem of kelp forests.

California State Parks San Luis Obispo Coast District received $30,000 to support their monitoring and management of western snowy plover on the Montaña de Oro State Park Sandspit. The program involves fencing sensitive habitat used by western snowy plover during the nesting season; monitoring populations for survival; reducing impacts to nests; and educating the public about the importance of and risks to the western snowy plover.
