Stormwater Monitoring Report for 2008 Now Available
A summary report is now available describing the results of the Volunteer Monitoring Program's stormwater monitoring effort. Each summer and early fall, volunteers patrol the storm drains for the Urban Watch monitoring effort in the communities of Los Osos and Morro Bay to monitor them for dry season flows. While these flow volumes are small compared to storm flows, the water can be high in contaminants that can have negative impacts on aquatic life. Urban Watch monitoring continues into early fall until the first big storm occurs. Referred to as First Flush, volunteers collect samples from the storm drains for analysis. Data from both of these efforts are contained in the Stormwater Monitoring Report for 2008 as well as the Appendices for the Stormwater Monitoring Report.

Analysis of data from water quality, bacteria, macroinvertebrates, shorebirds and other efforts are summarized in this document. The data summary report for 2008 is now available online.
