20th Anniversary

2015 was our 20th Anniversary

Thanks to the hard work of the Friends of the Estuary and the Bay Foundation, Morro Bay achieved National Estuary Program status in 1995. In the 20 years since, these passionate and dedicated people have joined with other community members, local governments, non-profit organizations, state and federal agencies, and landowners to protect and restore the Morro Bay estuary for people and wildlife.

Together, we’ve created a Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan, and completed numerous projects to improve water quality and to restore the natural ecosystem. We’ve invited people in to our interactive Nature Center, and reached out to teach people about healthy habits that benefit the estuary.
