The cold water in Morro Bay means we need to wear thick, 7mm dive suits to keep us warm. These suits keep us nice and toasty, but they are very buoyant. For these subtidal surveys we need to be able to dive to the bottom to count eelgrass, so we wear dive belts to help us stay down in the water. Here, Evan finishes putting on his gear and starts surveying.
