An abandoned crab pot got caught on our boat’s propeller while we were touring a bayou off of Barataria Bay. A recent outreach project removed thousands of these crab pots from the waters, helping to alleviate the problem of ghost fishing where an abandoned trap continues to collect crabs, fish, and other wildlife that cannot free themselves.
