From the center of each quadrat, we collected algae for drying and weighing back at the lab. This site on the north end of the sandspit was covered by a dense mat of Ulva. Collecting the biomass sample left a square-shaped hole in the blanket of algae and exposed eelgrass blades that were hidden underneath.
