bacteria samples counting_1

After incubation is complete, the results can be read. The sample trays are removed from the incubator and placed under UV light. Each well in the tray that contains enterococcus will glow. The number of positive wells are tallied, and this corresponds to a concentration of enterococcus. To be safe for swimming, the geomean (a type of average) of enterococcus results must be less than 35 MPN/100 mL and 90% of results should be lesss than 130 MPN/100 mL.
