Estuary Program volunteers venture out on the bay in kayaks within two hours of sunrise to measure dissolved oxygen in the bay. Measurements are taken at this time because this is when the lowest oxygen levels of the day occur. The volunteer is rinsing off the oxygen sensor between readings to prevent corrosion and to ensure accurate readings.
