Estuary Program staff capture benthic macroinvertebrates using a specialized flat-bottomed net. The sampler agitates the sediment to dislodge any macroinvertebrates which then float with the current into the sampling net. After collection, they are transferred into a sample jar and sent to a lab for analysis
